Our History & Heritage
From a small workshop with just a few craftsmen, we have grown into one of the region’s most trusted memorial makers. Over the years, we have had the honor of serving hundreds of families, each memorial telling a unique story. We have adapted to modern techniques and materials, but have never lost sight of the handcrafted touch. Many of our team members have been with us for decades – you’ll find second-generation masons in our workshop who learned the trade from their parents, much like a family tradition. This continuity means when you come to Davies Memorials, you’re benefiting from generations of experience in stone carving and letter cutting.
Our headquarters is in Leamington Spa. Being locally rooted in both the Coventry city and Warwickshire area allows us to understand the community’s needs and the nuances of various cemetery regulations in different towns and parishes. We are proud to have built a reputation for reliability, quality, and kindness. Many of our clients come to us because we helped their parents or neighbors in the past – those word-of-mouth referrals are the true measure of trust we strive for.
Our Mission
At the heart of our business is a simple mission: to help families create a lasting tribute to their loved ones with compassion and excellent craftsmanship. Losing a loved one is one of life’s most difficult experiences, and our role is to ease one small part of that burden by guiding you in memorializing them.
Meet Our Team
Our team is small but dedicated. When you contact Astill Memorials, you’ll likely speak with Ruth, our friendly memorial advisor who handles our enquiries and will guide you through the options available. Ruth is extremely knowledgeable about designs, regulations, and the various choices.
In the workshop, Alyn Davies leads the masonry work. Alyn is a NAMM-licensed fixer and an artist with stone. With over 40 years of experience, he oversees all inscriptions and stone cutting to ensure they meet our high standards.
Lee Davies, our senior installer who has been fixing memorials for 20+ years. Lee’s meticulous approach to installation and safety has earned us a spotless record with local councils.
Every member of our team, whether in the office or on the field, understands the importance of what we do. It’s not just making something out of stone – it’s creating a piece that holds emotional weight and memories. This mindset shines through in our interactions and the final product.
